From the 8th – 10th June,
2008, Dublin will host the biennial congress of The International
Council for Commercial Arbitration (“ICCA”).
Founded in 1969, ICCA is the leading world-wide organisation
devoted to promoting international arbitration and other
forms of dispute resolution. It has official status as
a non-governmental organisation accredited by the United
Nations, and in that capacity has actively participated
in the preparation of the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, the
UNCITRAL Conciliation Rules, the UNCITRAL Model Law on
International Commercial Arbitration, the UNCITRAL Model
Law on International Commercial Conciliation and other
UNCITRAL projects.
It regularly convenes congresses and conferences for discussion
of topics concerning aspects of international dispute resolution,
which attract large numbers of participants and practitioners
in the area from around the world.
The ICCA Dublin 2008 Congress will commence on Sunday,
the 8th June, 2008 at 6 p.m. with an opening ceremony and
reception at Dublin Castle. The Congress working sessions
will take place on Monday, the 9th and Tuesday, the 10th
June, 2008.
